How To Snap Windows in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to snap windows in Windows 10. Since version 7, the Windows operating system offers snap points on the edges of the screen to facilitate the display of multiple windows.

This feature is intended to automatically arrange windows by moving them to the corners or edges of the screen. From two different snap points in previous versions, Windows 10 now increases to four.

To snap a window, click on the top of the window border and drag it to the sides of the screen or to one of the top or bottom corners. The window automatically positions and resizes itself to occupy half or a quarter of the screen. Another new feature is that Windows 10 displays a thumbnail of other open windows; click on the one you want to snap to as well.

Here you can enable or disable four options related to the Snap feature of Windows 10:

  • Automatically organize windows by moving them to the corners or edges of the screen.
  • When I snap a window, automatically adjust to fill the available space.
  • When snapping a window, show what I can snap next to it.
  • When I resize a snaped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snaped window.

By default, all four options are enabled.

The window snapping feature will be especially useful for people who multitask, deal with multiple windows, and need a quick way to organize them on the screen without them overlapping and obscuring their content.

There are keyboard shortcuts to know:

  • Windows + Right Arrow or Left Arrow: to snap the active window to the right or left of the screen so that it occupies half the screen.
  • Windows + Right Arrow or Left Arrow + Up Arrow or Down Arrow: to snap the active window to the right or left, top or bottom of the screen so that it occupies a quarter of the screen.
