In this tutorial, we are going to see the fastest way to delete a large folder in Windows 10. To delete the contents of a folder, you can select the files it contains and put them in the trash. To go faster, you can add a Delete Contents command to the context menu that appears after right-clicking on a folder.

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button, select Run.
 

 
Step 2: Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
 

 

 
Step 3: After that, navigate to the following Registry key:

Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell


 
Step 4: Click on the Edit menu, on New and then on Key.
 

 
Step 5: Name the key “Delete Contents“.
 

 
Step 6: Click again on the Edit menu, on New and then on Key.
 

 

 
Step 7: Name the key “Command“.
 

 
Step 8: In the right pane of the window, double click on the value (default) and Enter the command cmd /c “cd /d %1&& del /s /f/q *.*” then confirm with OK.
 

 
 
Step 9: Close the Registry Editor. Now, right click on a folder and the Delete Contents command will appear. Click on it to directly delete the files contained in the folder and its subfolders.
 

 
And if you ever want to go back and delete this new option, delete the key Delete Contents from the Registry Editor.

    option shows in file explorer.
    but nothing gets deleted
    no error message
