How to Reinstall Microsoft Store in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to reinstall the Microsoft store in Windows 10.

The Microsoft Store (or Windows Store) is no longer working? Are you having download or installation problems? Does the Microsoft Store no longer open? Don’t panic: by repairing the Microsoft Store, all these problems will be gone!

In this tutorial, we will see how to repair, reset and reinstall the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 so that you can use it again.
 

Microsoft Store

The Microsoft Store (or Windows Store) allows you to download and install applications, games, movies, and more from a single platform like Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store.

Sometimes Microsoft Store does not work anymore.

The following error codes may occur: 0x80070057, 0x80004005, 0x80073CF9, 0x8000FFFF, 0x80070422, 0x80072EE7 or 0x80240438.

And you may encounter one of the following problems or error messages:

  • Download problem.
  • Installation problem / cannot install.
  • Windows Store opens and closes/does not open at all.
  • Unable to connect to the Windows Store.
  • Windows Store not available right now.
  • Try again later. Something happened at our end.
  • You’ll need the Internet for this.

In this tutorial, we will see how to fix all these problems with different methods!
 
 

Method 1: Clearing the Microsoft Store Cache

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button, select Run.
 

 
Step 2: Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
 

 
Step 3: An empty command prompt window opens and closes after about 10 seconds.
 

 
The Microsoft Store will then open automatically. Check if it is working properly again.
 

 
 

Method 2: Reset Microsoft Store

Step 1: Click on the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
 

 
Step 2: Click on Settings.
 

 
Step 3: Click on Apps.
 

 
Step 4: Once in Apps and Features, Select Microsoft Store and click on Advanced Options.
 

 
Step 5: Click on the Reset button.
 

 
Step 6: Confirm the reset by clicking Reset again.
 

 
Step 7: Go back to the Microsoft Store and check if it is working properly again.
 

 
 

Method 3: Use The Troubleshooting Utility

Step 1: Go back to the Home setting and click on Updates & Security.
 

 
Step 2: Then go to Troubleshooting.
 

 
Step 3: Select Windows Store Apps then click the Run the Troubleshooter Utility button.
 

 
Step 4: The utility runs and searches for problems that prevent the Microsoft Store from working properly. If it detects any issues, follow its recommendations.
 

 
Step 5: When the problems are solved, close the utility. Go back to the Microsoft Store and check if it is working properly again.
 
 

Method 4: Reinstall the Microsoft Store
Warning: reinstalling Microsoft Store 10 is not recommended by Microsoft. It is better to repair Windows 10. This method is just given as an example but be aware that it is not recommended by Microsoft!

Step 1: Press Windows + X button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin). This is the fastest way to open the PowerShell as an administrator.
 


 
Step 2: To reinstall Microsoft Store, Type the following command, and press Enter.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}


 
Step 3: Go back to the Microsoft Store and check if it is working properly again.
