How to Disable Automatic Installation of Suggested Apps in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to disable automatic installation of suggested apps in Windows 10.

If you are a Windows 10 user, you will have probably noticed that the operating system integrates with it several third-party applications and games listed in the Start menu. For example, you have Candy Crush Friends Saga, Farmville 2, Netflix, and so on.

It is very easy to get rid of all your applications. To uninstall them, simply right-click on its icon (in the Start menu), then select uninstall to remove it. However, this won’t stop Windows 10 from automatically installing new suggested apps. Indeed, from time to time, you are allowed to have new applications that are automatically installed on your PC without your consent… Not cool, right?!

Fortunately, you have the ability to block this practice by simply changing a registry key. This prevents Microsoft’s operating system from installing new applications without your knowledge.

How to Disable Automatic Installation of Suggested Apps in Windows 10

To disable the automatic installation of Windows 10 suggested apps, you need to change a key in the Registry Editor. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button, select Run.

Step 2: Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Step 3: After that, navigate to the following Registry key:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager

Step 4: Double-click the DWORD value named SilentInstalledAppsEnabled and set its data value to 0. The value 0 disables the suggested apps feature on Windows 10. You can re-enable it at any time by setting its data value to 1.

Step 5: Restart your computer after closing the Registry Editor.

Changing this Registry key will prevent the installation of future suggested applications. However, it does not affect the apps already installed on your Windows 10 PC. You still need to uninstall them manually to remove them.
