The BIOS or UEFI is present on all motherboards. It is firmware that allows the PC to boot and initialize peripherals before handing over to the operating system (Windows, Linux, etc.).

Usually, the BIOS or UEFI does not receive regular updates. However, sometimes manufacturers (for example, ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, etc.) need to roll out a patch to fix a bug, improve system stability or enable a new feature on your Windows 10.

How To Check Bios Firmware Version in Windows 10

As on previous versions, on Windows 10, checking the BIOS version is a simple process, proceed as follows:

Step 1: Open the Windows 10 Start menu, then search for System Information and click on the search result.

Tip: You can also use the Windows + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command, then type msinfo32 and click OK to open the system information.
 

 

 
Step 2: In the System Summary section, look for the BIOS Version/Date line, which will tell you the version number, the manufacturer and the date it was installed.
 

 
Step 3: Once the steps are completed, if the installation date is older than one year, it is likely that your manufacturer has a more recent update.
