How To Enable Screen Saver In Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to enable screen saver in Windows 10. As you know, screensavers were introduced to protect the old-style cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors. But now that CRT monitors have disappeared to make way for LCD, LED, and even OLED displays, screensavers are not as important and popular as they were a decade ago.

Screensavers are disabled by default in Windows 10. So when you leave your Windows 10 PC inactive for a few minutes, you no longer see a screensaver appear. As mentioned earlier, screensavers are no longer essential on modern computers. However, there are still some slightly nostalgic users who like to see a screensaver displayed when their PC is inactive for a while.

Unlike previous versions of Windows, you may have noticed that the Screensaver Settings dialog box is not easily accessible. The classic personalization window from which we could easily open the screensaver settings has been reduced and moved to include other settings in the new Settings application.

How To Enable Screen Saver In Windows 10

Step 1: Open the Windows 10 Start menu, then type Change screen saver and press Enter to open the screensaver settings.

Step 2: Once the Screen Saver Settings dialog box opens, select a screen saver from the drop-down list. Customize the selected screen saver by clicking on Settings, then confirm your changes with the Apply button.

As you can see from the screenshot above, the default timeout or inactivity time before the screensaver is activated is 1 minute. You can of course change this setting to 2, 5, or 10 minutes by clicking on the up arrow. After making the changes, click the Apply button again.
