How to Disable Telemetry in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to disable Telemetry in Windows 10. Windows telemetry is an option that is enabled by default on the system. It collects information about the user and sends it to Microsoft’s servers. You can disable this telemetry in the Registry Editor.

How to Disable Telemetry in Windows 10

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button, select Run.

Step 2: Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Step 3: After that, navigate to the following Registry key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection

Step 4: Then right click in the window and click on New and DWORD (32-bit) value.

Step 5: Name the new key AllowTelemetry. By default, its value will be 0, which means that telemetry is indeed disabled. Now you just have to close the Registry Editor.

In step 3, you have written “…navigate to the following Registry key: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection” , but afterwards have highlighted “Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\UpdateEncryptionSettings” – so which one is correct. I have read on other websites that the first option doesn’t work for Windows 10 Home users.
