How to Enable Registry Backup in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to enable registry backup in Windows 10. Since version 1809 (released in April 2018), Windows 10 no longer automatically saves the system registry in the C:\Windows\System32\configRegBack folder. This feature was however very useful for all the hackers. It allowed to easily restore the Windows registry in case of a problem. But Microsoft decided otherwise…

In short, if you want to restore the legacy backup functionality, you should know that it is possible! That’s because Windows 10 includes a registry key to re-enable automatic system registry backups every time your computer successfully restarts.

Once you complete the above steps, Windows 10 will create a backup of the entire registry in the RegBack folder and a RegIdleBackup task in the Task Scheduler to manage future backups.
