How To Tell If Your Computer Is 32 Or 64-bit Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to tell if your computer is 32 or 64-bit Windows 10.

Like its predecessors, Windows 10 is also available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. If you have installed Windows 10 yourself or upgraded from an earlier version of Windows, you probably know which version is installed on your computer (32-bit or 64-bit).

In this tutorial, we will see together how to know which version of Windows your PC is running: 32-bit or 64-bit.

32 bits and 64 bits: What are the differences?

There are many cases when you need to know the type of Windows operating system you are using on your PC. For example, when you need to download hardware drivers, you must necessarily select the type of Windows 10 version your PC is using. You cannot install a 64-bit driver on a 32-bit Windows PC.

Indeed, although the 32-bit and 64-bit versions are identical, their operation is less so. First of all, in terms of performance: the 32-bit version of Windows has limits in terms of the amount of RAM. It will only be able to handle 3.4 to 3.5 gigabytes. If the computer is equipped with 4 GB of RAM, some of it is wasted because it is not used.

The 64-bit version of Windows 10 is capable of handling much more than 4GB of RAM. Whether you need a huge amount of memory is another matter. Let’s just say that, for most of us, 4GB is fine. For intensive tasks, like video processing, 6 or 8 GB is even better.

Finally, one of the best reasons to use a 64-bit version rather than a 32-bit version is that the security is much better. Microsoft has strengthened it on 64-bit computer drivers, which is not possible in 32-bit coded environments. Come on, let’s find out how to know if your PC is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10.
