By default, File Explorer in Windows 10 uses a white background color for the light theme and black background color for the dark theme. So, to deal with this, we will use a program called QTTabBar. One of the best things about the software is that it has a variety of options to customize the file explorer as you wish. For example, you can add tabs, an extra navigation bar with custom shortcuts, etc.

Step 1: First, download QTTabBar from the official website and install it.
 

 
Step 2: After installation, open File Explorer, go to the View tab and click on the Options drop-down menu. Here, select the QT Command Bar option.
 

 

 
Step 3: The above action will add a new navigation page to the File Explorer. In the new menu, click on the Settings icon (gear icon).
 

 
Step 4: Once you click on the icon, the QTTabBar settings window will open. Here, select the Appearance tab in the left panel.
 

 
Step 5: Now, in the right panel, go to the Folder View tab.
 

 
 
Step 6: Check here the boxes Basic background color and Basic text color.
 

 
Step 7: This action will activate a few other options. Click on the Choose Color button and choose the color you want for the background and text.
 

 
 
Step 8: When you are finished, click the Apply Ok buttons to save the changes.
 

 
If you do not see the changes, restart the system or restart the Windows Explorer process.
