Windows 10 has a new feature called PowerLimitation that prevents apps from draining your battery or using an excessive amount of power. As you can see, this feature is quite useful for laptop users where battery life and power-up time are more important than apps running at full capacity.

With that said, you may be a power user and need your applications to run at full capacity to get the job done. In these cases, you can simply disable the power limit feature.
 

 

Method 1: How to Disable Power Throttling in Windows 10 Using GpEit

Step 1: Right-click on the Start button, select Run.
 

 
Step 2: Type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
 

 
Step 3: After that, navigate to the following path:

Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → System → Power Management → Power Throttling Settings

OR

Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Power Management → Power Throttling Settings

Find and double-click the Turn off Power Throttling policy.
 

 

 
Step 4: In the policy settings window, select the Enabled option and click the OK button to save the changes.
 

 
To apply the policy, restart your PC.
 
 

Method 2: How to Disable Power Throttling in Windows 10 Using Regedit

Step 1: To disable power throttling in Windows 10 using Regedit. Right-click on the Start button, select Run.
 

 
Step 2: Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
 

 

 
Step 3: After that, navigate to the following Registry key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power


 
Step 4: Now, right click on the Power folder and select New → Key.
 

 
Step 5: Name the new folder PowerThrottling.
 

 

 
Step 6: Now, right-click on the PowerThrottling folder and select New → DWORD (32 bits) Value.
 

 
Step 7: Name the value PowerThrottlingOff. Now double-click on the created value, enter “1” in the Value data field and click the OK button to save the changes.
 

 
Finally, restart Windows to apply the changes.
