How to Find Your WiFi Password on Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to find your WiFi Password on Windows 10. If you have lost or forgotten the WiFi password of your connection (or box), don’t panic! To do this, you can choose between two methods: either through the Control Panel or through the Command Prompt. With these two methods, you will find the WiFi password of any network you have already connected to.

Method 1: How to Find Your WiFi Password on Windows 10 Using Control Panel

Step 1: Click on the Start menu and type Control Panel.

Step 2: Then click on Network and Internet.

Step 3: And go to the Network and Sharing Center section.

Step 4: From there, click on the link for your WiFi connection.

Step 5: A dialog box will open informing you of the status of your connection. Click on the Wireless Properties button.

Step 6: Here, from the Security tab, check the Show characters box. The password will then appear in legible characters. Write it down somewhere so you don’t lose it again.

Method 2: How to Find Your WiFi Password on Windows 10 Using CMD

Step 1: You can also use Command Prompt to find the WiFi key. To do this, right-click on the Windows 10 Start menu, then click Command Prompt (admin).

Step 2: Initially type the following command and press Enter:

netsh wlan show profiles

Step 3: All the names of the WiFi networks you have already connected to are displayed. For example, let’s say I want to find the Wi-Fi password of the box named TP-LINK_3F4959. To do so, I enter the following command (replace TP-LINK_3F4959 with the name of your WiFi connection):

netsh wlan show profile name="TP-LINK_3F4959" key=clear | findstr "Key Content"

A line called Key content is then displayed with the famous WiFi key of your connection. That’s it!

Now you know how to see the password of a WiFi network. Now you have no excuse to share it with your family or friends.
