How to Change CMD Color in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to change CMD color in Windows 10. By Default, CMD has a black background with white text. There is also a method to increase the size of the texts and change the font of the CMD.

This tutorial was done on Windows 10, this procedure also applies to Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. The actions to be done are the same on all these operating systems, as well as on the different versions of Windows Server that work in the same way.
 

 

How to Change CMD Color in Windows 10

 
Step 1: Click on start button and type CMD. Then click on its icon.
 

 
Step 2: In the Command Prompt, right click on the title bar and choose Properties:
 

 
Step 3: Go to the Colors tab in the “Command Prompt Properties”:
 

 

 
Step 4: Change the colors of the Text, the Background, the Popup text, and the Popup Background.

It is possible to choose from the color palette or by changing the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color values.

You can also change the opacity, from 30 to 100%. It is recommended to set it at 100% for readability.
 

 
Step 5: Validate by clicking OK.
 
Step 6: Close the command prompt and reopen a new one to see the changed colors. There is no need to restart the computer.
