How to Check if Virtualization is Enabled in Windows 10

In this tutorial, we are going to see how to check if virtualization is enabled in Windows 10. If you want to enable Windows Sandbox or use virtualization software like Hyper-V, VMWare, or VirtualBox, your system must support hardware virtualization. Let us show you how to find out if your computer supports Intel VT-X or AMD-V hardware virtualization.

In case you are wondering if you are using an Intel processor, hardware virtualization is called Intel VT-X. If you are using an AMD processor, it is called AMD-V.
 

 

Methode 1: How to Check if Virtualization is Enabled in Windows 10 Using Task Manager

The most basic way to know whether Windows 10 supports Intel AMD-V or VT-X is through the Task Manager. You see, the task manager shows you a lot of useful information about your system. But is not limited to, system performance, processes, startup applications, etc.
 
Step 1: Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager option. You can also press the keyboard shortcut CTRL + Shift + Escape to open the Task Manager.
 

 
Step 2: If it is not already open, click More Details.
 

 

 
Step 3: In Task Manager, go to the Performance tab and select CPU on the left panel. If virtualization is supported and enabled. For example, if the processor supports Intel VT-X or AMD-V, you will see Enabled next to virtualization.
 

 
 

Methode 2: How to Check if Virtualization is Enabled in Windows 10 Using the System Information Tool

Windows has a built-in application called the System Information Tool that gives you a ton of information about your system’s hardware, software and drivers.
 
Step 1: Open the Windows 10 Start menu, then search for System Information and click on the search result.

Tip: You can also use the Windows + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command, then type msinfo32 and click OK to open the system information.
 

 

 
Step 2: In the System Information tool, scroll down and you will see four Hyper-V entries. These four Hyper-V entries should say Yes in the value section.
 

 
If it says Yes, your system supports AMD-V or Intel VT-X.
 
 

Methode 3: How to Check if Virtualization is Enabled in Windows 10 Using CMD

You can also use the command prompt to see if your PC has an AMD-V or Intel VT-X processor. In fact, we will use the same system information tool via the command prompt.
 
Step 1: Click on start button and type CMD. Then click on its icon.
 

 

 
Step 2: Then type the following command before confirming with the Enter key.

systeminfo

This will scan the system and list all the details about your computer. Scroll down and you should see the Hyper-V requirements section. Next to it, all four entries should say Yes.
 

 
If it says Yes, your system supports AMD-V or Intel VT-X.
